Salio is live: one place to compare electronics prices in Latvia

Today we open Salio, a price comparison site for Latvian online stores. Before you buy a phone, a laptop or a TV, you can see in one place who sells it and for how much.

What Salio does

We read the prices of Latvian online stores every day. Each product shows its lowest price right now, every shop that sells it and what each one asks.

Many products come in several configurations: colour, memory, storage. Pick the one you want and the page shows its prices only.

Below the offers is a price chart: how the lowest price moved day by day. It helps you tell a real discount from a price that was raised just before a sale.

What is in the catalogue

At launch we track over 48,000 offers from 12 stores, among them 1a.lv, Euronics, Ksenukai, RD Electronics, Dateks, Tet and BigBox.

The categories are smartphones, tablets, laptops, monitors, graphics cards, TVs, headphones and washing machines.

For now we compare electronics in these categories only. In time Salio will compare many more kinds of products.

How buying works

Salio does not sell anything. When you pick an offer, you go to the store's own page and buy at the store's price, on its terms. We add nothing to the price.

We check prices regularly, but a store can change them at any time, so the price on the store's site is the one that counts.

What comes next

This is only the start. We are adding more categories, from home appliances to photo and gaming gear, and more stores.

We are also working on price drop alerts: pick a product and the price you want to pay, and we will let you know when it gets there.
